Simple Makes [Life, Software, Everything] Better.
2025 brought many changes for UW-Madison’s Computer Science Capstone program. One of those changes, was that we had our first two overseas partners: Nuu Mobile in China & Flexera in the United Kingdom. While both of these companies have a presence the United States, both teams leaned on mentors abroad to achieve their project results.
I’ve been developing & teaching UW-Madison’s Computer Science Capstone since Fall 2020. In Fall 2021, we started to welcome a handful of Product Management MBA students into the program, as well as UX Master’s students and now we have a new course entirely for our Product Management MBAs.
Five years ago, UW-Madison’s first cohort of Computer Science students got to take the brand new Computer Science Capstone. This semester we have two section, 168 students, and 22 Capstone partners. Our partners are amazing and I’d like to take a moment to introduce them to you.
This time I year, I usually get at least one email out of the blue complaining from a student complaining about a teammate. Let me lay out how NOT to handle team conflicts so you don’t end up like some of my student teams at the end of the semester.
I developed, run, and teach UW-Madison’s Computer Science Capstone program. Last semester, GE Healthcare had three teams of students working on two different projects and they wrote a nice article about the experience.
Noble Reach is planning to rejoin us as a partner in the Fall. Last spring, they interviewed one of the students on the Noble Reach teams and wrote an article. Here’s a link to that and why innovation in government is so important right now.

The Common Mission Project partners with governmental agencies to have students try to tackle tough problems, mostly centered around Climate & Sustainability. They’re a unique partner for the UW-Madison Capstone course that is worth spotlighting this semester.
