About Me

Amber Field

Amber is currently the Vice President of Software Development at Singlewire Software in Madison, WI. She has over 15 years of experience working with agile software teams and loves helping teams and people become more efficient and happy. Each fall, she teaches the Computer Science Capstone course at UW-Madison. She has written two books, the latest of which mirrors her course and is called Agile Discovery & Delivery: A Survival Guide for New Software Engineers & Tech Entrepreneurs. She blogs here and speaks at countless events across the country. Previously, she was the Head of Product Operations for Capital One’s Innovation Lab in Washington, DC. She ran the agile transformation for National Geographic and the Agile Program Management Office for Opower (acquired by Oracle), helping it effectively scale and establish an innovation strategy. In 2016 she co-founded O2 Agility, an agile consultancy focused on self-selection. She is a Certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC4), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), and Certified Program Management Professional (PMP).

Outside of work, Amber loves to check things off of her eclectic life goal list, which includes seeing the midnight sun (check! – Iceland, 2017), climbing all of Colorado’s 14ers and seeing a shark in the wild. She spends a lot of time with her two daughters and adventures outdoors whenever possible. She loves to travel, hike, run, and kayak. Currently, she’s training for her first and only marathon (also on the life list)!
