Agile Discovery & Delivery Available Through Ingram Spark

February 27, 2024

I’ve got some exciting news today! My book, Agile Discovery & Delivery, is now also available via Ingram Spark! What’s Ingram Spark, you say? It’s a publishing company that has a wide distribution network to bookstores (Barnes & Noble, Target, all the independent bookstores) and libraries. So, you may very well see my book at your local library or bookstore soon! It’s also still available, of course, on Amazon. I’ve already seen it show up at Barnes & Noble, Thriftbooks, and other bookshops, which is just so awesome!

With Ingram Spark, I now have a book with a nice book jacket (which you can see in the featured picture) and I really like how it turned out. I, again, used GetCovers to make tweaks to my hardcover & paperback covers for Ingram Spark.

A Little Inside-The-Book-Jacket Action Here

Request a Copy For Your Library

Would you do me a giant favor? To help make my book more available to everyone that needs to read it, would you request that your local library get a copy? It takes two minutes and it’s free! Libraries are always looking for new books that their reader base will enjoy. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Grab your library card, as you will need to enter your library card number

  2. Search for your local library’s Request a Book page

Search for “<your library name> Request a Book” or “<your library name> Book Recommendation” and you should find a link straight to the book request form. I was able to easily find links for Madison Public Library, Fairfax Public Library, San Francisco Public Library, and Seattle Public Library in about two minutes.

  3. Fill out the form, here are some common answers you’ll need:

Book Title: Agile Discovery & Delivery: A Survival Guide for New Software Engineers & Tech Entrepreneurs
    Book Author: Amber R. Field
    ISBN: 9798988482208
    Publication Date: Nov 22, 2023
    Subject: Agile Software Development
    Publisher: Ingram Spark
    Format: Book
    Audience: Adults
    Type: Non-fiction

  4. Submit – Thanks a ton for requesting my book!

How to Publish Your Book with Ingram Spark

Are you a fellow author? I wrote a whole article on how to publish your book with Ingram Spark. Check it out here! If you buy your International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs) yourself, you can publish your book on any and all platforms including both Amazon and Ingram Spark. I’m really enjoying seeing the distribution for my book grow.

Let me know if you have any questions about Ingram Spark or the Library Request process. I love to hear from readers!

Overwhelmed by AI? It’s OK to Watch for a While

There’s a particular flavor of anxiety that’s causing us all to believe that if we’re not using AI all day every day we’re falling hopeless behind. If you’re overwhelmed, resistant, skeptical, or just genuinely uninterested in the AI hype cycle right now, I want to say something that you might not be hearing very often: That’s okay. You’re going to be fine. And here’s why I think that.

We’re Looking for Partners for UW-Madison’s CS Capstone — Could That Be You?

One of the things I’m most proud of during my career is creating and running UW-Madison’s Computer Sciences Capstone course (CS 620). Every semester, hundreds of computer science Seniors work in teams of four to six on real software projects for real organizations, using agile development practices. And every semester, I need great partner organizations to make it happen. Last year, we had 27 amazing partners and we’re looking to grow quite a bit to accommodate 40% more students for the 2026-2027 school year.

What I Learned at the Global Agility + Innovation Summit: AI, Judgement, and the Future of Leadership

I just returned from the Global Agility + Innovation Summit, a one-day leadership conference in DC hosted by Sanjiv Augustine and his team at LitheSpeed. It was a day packed with sharp thinking, genuine conversation, and the kind of energy that only happens when a room full of practitioners who actually care about the work they’re doing get together. Here are some conference highlights.
