About Amber

Amber is a Tech Executive-turned Author, Executive Coach, Start-up Advisor, and Lecturer who developed and teaches the Computer Science Capstone course at UW-Madison. She has over 20 years of experience working in the software industry with agile software teams and specializes in creating efficient, happy teams & clients while helping them scale, execute, and work / live intentionally. Most recently she was the Chief Operating Officer for Strudel AI and the Vice President of Software Development & Product at Singlewire Software in Madison, WI. She has written three books, including Agile Discovery & Delivery: A Survival Guide for New Software Engineers & Tech Entrepreneurs, which mirrors the content of the Capstone course she teaches. Amber blogs here and speaks at countless events across the country. Her current focus is on helping individuals live more intentionally in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

Previously, Amber was the Head of Product Operations for Capital One’s Innovation Lab in Washington, DC. She ran the agile transformation for National Geographic and the Agile Program Management Office for Opower (acquired by Oracle), helping it effectively scale and establish an innovation strategy. In 2016 she co-founded O2 Agility, an agile consultancy focused on self-selection and began her career as a software engineer at IBM. She is a Certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC4), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), and Certified Program Management Professional (PMP).

Outside of work, Amber loves to check things off of her eclectic life goal list, which includes seeing the midnight sun (check! – Iceland, 2017), running a marathon (check! – Madison 2021), hiking the Inca Trail (check! – Peru 2025), and seeing a dangerous shark in the wild (still working on this one). She spends a lot of time with her husband and two daughters playing board games and adventuring outdoors whenever possible. She loves to travel, hike, run, and kayak.
